The Mission: Proactive Stampede Prevention
Role: Team Lead & Embedded Edge-AI System Engineer
Taking a concept from paper to a mission-critical Edge AI system is an intense journey of innovation, extreme constraints, and hardware-software co-design. Winning the Smart India Hackathon (Hardware Edition, Smart Automation) was the culmination of five relentless days of system engineering and real-time decision-making.
Our high-stakes objective was to engineer an autonomous drone system capable of proactively detecting and mitigating stampede risks at ultra-high-density public events, designed with the upcoming Kumbh Mela in Nashik in mind.
Technical Highlights & Learnings:
On-Device Analytics: Deployed a TensorRT-optimized YOLOv8n model on an NVIDIA Jetson Nano to enable real-time, cloud-independent crowd risk inference.
Robust Communication: Designed a custom low-level serial protocol over 433 MHz (57.6 kbps) that featured packet prioritization, 64-byte framing, and CRC-based fault tolerance.
System Architecture: Built a latency-critical ground control stack featuring real-time telemetry, trend analysis, and hardware-triggered response mechanisms to ensure seamless operation.
This experience wasn't just about building hardware; it was about leading a team under pressure and developing a solution that could genuinely save lives.

Event: Inauguration of SPCoE - AI, Baramati
When you spend countless late nights tinkering, debugging, and buildingโnot out of obligation, but out of sheer curiosityโthe moments when that work is recognized feel surreal.
I had the distinct honor of presenting our Edge-AI Drone System for Stampede Prevention to Mr. Gautam Adani and other national leaders. Discussing a system I helped engineer from the ground up with individuals who are actively shaping Indiaโs technological and economic future was a profoundly motivating experience. Standing there and explaining the intricacies of our proactive safety system reinforced a simple but powerful truth: dreams donโt work unless you show up for them.
Award: Cummins India Nurturing Brilliance Scholarship (2025)
Receiving the Cummins Nurturing Brilliance Scholarship is a milestone I am incredibly grateful for, but the true value came from the doors it opened. The award ceremony was an enriching masterclass in leadership and industrial innovation.
A major highlight was my interaction with Mr. Rajendra Petkar, President & C.T.O. of Tata Motors. We discussed the engineering mindset required to build a lasting career, and it was fascinating to hear his perspective on how iconic legacy models like the Safari and Sierra are being reimagined through the lens of modern engineering. I also had the privilege of gaining valuable industry insights from Mr. Nitin Jirafe and Mr. Joseph Robin Mathai, Directors at Tata Cummins Ltd.
These conversations went far beyond technical skills; they offered a blueprint for professional growth and reinforced my drive to contribute meaningfully to the engineering sector.
Hackathons are the ultimate test of endurance, adaptability, and rapid prototyping. Securing 1st place at the 24-Hour KUMBHA Hackathon 2K25 was a thrilling exercise in translating a complex problem into a functional prototype within a single day.
The Challenge & Solution:
[Briefly describe the specific problem statement you tackled]
[Detail the core technology or architecture you built during those 24 hours]
[Highlight a major technical hurdle your team overcame in the middle of the night]
This victory was a testament to our team's ability to stay focused, pivot when necessary, and deliver a robust solution against a ticking clock.

Exhibiting technical projects to a broader audience is a critical step in the engineering lifecycle. Being awarded the Consolation Prize (โน25,000) at the IET K.K. Wagh Expo 2026 was a rewarding validation of our team's hard work.
Key Takeaways:
[Briefly describe the project you exhibited]
[Mention what the judges or attendees found most innovative about your project]
[Reflect on what you learned from presenting your work to industry professionals and peers]
The expo provided an excellent platform to gather feedback, refine our presentation skills, and see how our work stands alongside other innovative engineering projects.
